A Labor of Love: 42,000 meals prepared and delivered to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities

Part of the beauty in hosting events is having the opportunity to play a role in the good happening throughout the world. Year after year, we witness countless fundraisers and events focused on improving our local and global communities. While the COVID-19 pandemic changed so much, it definitely didn’t diminish these goodwill efforts. If anything, it created more opportunities for people and organizations to find creative ways to come together and make a positive impact.

Enter Morrissey Hospitality, Saint Paul RiverCentre’s in-house caterer, who has been an avid supporter of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities for many years. The Boys & Girls Club is an organization whose mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need help most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.

This fall, Morrissey Hospitality is partnering with them to serve the families of this organization. Our Chef and his culinary team got creative to develop low cost, fully prepared, nutritionally balanced meals that are also easy for the recipients to reheat and serve. Each meal kit includes protein, grain and vegetable or fruit to feed a family of four, and they are prepared in the RiverCentre kitchen and delivered to the clubs each week.

"The feedback we’ve received from the clubs has been positive and inspiring, and we’re grateful for the partnership," said Jillian Alspach, Director of Catering Sales. "We were surprised by the hands-down winner for favorite meal – Meatloaf! We’re working it into the rotation now once or twice per month."

  • 350 families of four are provided two meal kits every week across five Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities locations
  • 2,800 total meals prepared and delivered each week
  • 42,000 meals prepared over 15 weeks (September 18 – December 23, 2020)

Serving others is in our nature. Our culinary team is grateful for the opportunity to utilize their talents for good during what has been such a difficult time for so many.
