Minnesota Roller Derby
Minnesota Roller Derby
Event Info
An epic quest concludes on Saturday, March 28, as Minnesota Roller Derby’s four home teams descend upon the The Legendary Roy Wilkins Auditorium for the ultimate battle: Lord of the Rinks. This isn't just another bout — it’s the championship showdown to determine who claims the 2026 Golden Skate.
Members of both the Twin Cities Gemini (Women’s Elite Rugby) and Minnesota Aurora FC will present the opening countdown and will be available for a fan meet-and-greet. Pregame will feature a bonus scrimmage between members of the Windchill training program and home team skaters. Children will be invited to join the home team mascots for an on-track mascot race during halftime.
MNRD fans will also have the chance to cast their votes for fan favorites in the annual Wheelie Awards, recognizing the season’s Favorite Jammer, Favorite Blocker, and Fiercest Competitor.
Both contenders of the consolation game have held the Golden Skate before, proving that there are no promises on the path to glory. The journey has been long for the winless Wednesday Warnings, who are looking to reclaim their former glory and prove their legacy is far from over. They face a Maul Rats squad that has remained feisty throughout the season, going 2-1 so far this season. With two Golden Skates in their history, will the Warnings’ experience finally prevail, or will the Rats scurry away with the victory?
The championship game pits the relentless tide of the Bodies of Water against the subzero energy of the undefeated Roller Vortex in a true battle for the realm. With each fighting for their first Golden Skate, expect these two powerhouses to collide in a whirlwind of high intensity hits and eagle-eyed strategy. It is a clash of the elements that will leave only one team standing at the top of the mountain.
Doors for Lord of the Rinks open at 5 p.m. Come early to grab a seat in your favorite team’s cheering section, shop this season’s merch, and visit concessions.
