45th Annual Hmong New Year
45th Annual Hmong New Year
Event Info
Hmong New Year is the only Hmong cultural holiday known to the Hmong and is a highly anticipated event by many Hmong households each year as they come together with family and friends to celebrate the end of the Hmong calendar year. At this event, patrons can join in on the festivities of Hmong song and dance, and reunite with friends and family they have not seen for a while. In Minnesota, both Hmong and non-Hmong participate in this rich cultural opportunity to learn more about the Hmong language, ethnic foods and clothing. Last year the event welcomed 30,000 spectators and over hundreds of vendors. Even if patrons don't participate in the cultural courtship games of ball toss, they can watch dance, singing and pageant competitions that liven the stage for two days.
