Sportsmen's Show Returns to Saint Paul RiverCentre Jan. 9-12
Dreaming of sun-filled, warm weather outdoor adventures? Whatever you need-boat or bobber, camper or cooler-can be found at the Minnesota Sportsmen's Boat, Camping & Vacation Show. Now in its 50th year, the show opens Thursday, Jan. 9 at Saint Paul RiverCentre, and runs through Sunday, Jan. 12. The popular event is once again presented by Mauer Chevrolet.
The Sportsmen's Show has hundreds of exhibits featuring the latest outdoor products and services. Scores of representatives from fishing and hunting lodges, resorts, campgrounds, fly-ins and outfitters are on hand to help with next summer's vacation plans.
Take the sting out of the winter weather by checking out new model fishing and power boats, pontoons and personal watercraft. Docks, lifts, motors and marine accessories are also featured. The expansive tackle section includes rods, reels, sonar equipment, GPS systems and fishing accessories.
Show highlights include:
- The world famous water skiing squirrel Twiggy, who has been entertaining parents and children with her water ski show since 1979, is scheduled for daily performances at the show.
Booth by Barnyard Buddies, a non-profit organization that brings barnyard friends to nursing homes, assisted living facilities and other senior homes.
Magnificent live bucks are the stars at Steve Porter's Trophy Whitetail.
Outdoorsman and TV personality Ron Schara hosts the special "Kids' Fishing School" on Saturday and Sunday.
The Live Trout Pond will be open every day for family fishing fun.
Hall of Fame professional angler and fishing expert Ted Takasaki and professional dog trainer Mike Wieben will be presenting seminars all four days.
The Minnesota Sportsmen's Show will be open Thursday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from noon to 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults, $2.50 for children aged six to 12 and free for children five and under.
