American Craft Council Show Returns to Saint Paul RiverCentre April 11-13
More than 225 of the country's top fine craft artists will present their latest handmade creations at the 28th Annual American Craft Council (ACC) Show Friday, April 11 - Sunday, April 13 at Saint Paul RiverCentre. ACC is a non-profit advocacy organization that for more than 70 years has promoted the understanding and appreciation of contemporary American craft.
Taking place over the course of three days, this juried show attracts over 10,000 collectors and fine craft enthusiasts. The 2014 show season will feature a variety of one-of-a-kind handmade items, including jewelry, fashion wearables and home décor, ranging from thousands of dollars to handmade under $100, green craft to foodieware and several other special interest categories organized to help guests easily navigate the show.
The show will also feature the special onsite exhibition Make Room, Modern Design Meets Craft – Let’s Entertain.
“Now in its second year, we’ve added a new theme to our Make Room collaboration,” says ACC Marketing Director Pamela Diamond. “The new theme, Let’s Entertain, puts craft into context by featuring room vignettes designed by local interior designers who have been inspired by objects of fine craft that are ideally suited for entertaining. From serving pieces to furniture, light fixtures to textiles, sculptures to decorative accessories, the possibilities are endless when it comes to the items a fine craft artist contributes to making a space feel warm and welcoming.”
The exhibition will include 10 craft-inspired rooms and a tap room serving nine Minnesota-brewed craft beers. The ACC has teamed up with The Beer Dabbler who is collaborating with participating Make Room interior designer Mike Smith of Brownsmith Restoration (and Forage Modern Workshop) to create a craft beer tasting experience for the show’s attendees. The featured craft beers will include: Indeed Brewing Company, Fulton Beer, Dangerous Man Brewing Company, Hayes Public House, Fitger's Brewhouse, Sociable Cider Werks, Bang Brewing, Bent Paddle Brewing Company and Blacklist Brewing from Duluth.
The American Craft Council Saint Paul Show already draws over 10,000 fine craft collectors from Minnesota and beyond, who find joy in learning the master makers’ creative processes, developing relationships with the artists and learning the stories behind each handcrafted piece. With the addition of “Make Room—Let’s Entertain,” ACC event organizers hope to help attendees discover ways to integrate treasured objects into a room design and be aware of the multitude of opportunities to commission an artist to create custom pieces.
