Take these water challenges any time this year. Together, we can make a difference!
H20 Challenge - Challenge your youth to lead your congregation in raising awareness and dollars for clean water needs and issues in our African Companion Synods. (Saint Paul Area Synod partners with The Iringa Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania. Minneapolis Area Synod – partners with The Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria. Hundreds of wells are in need of repair and new ones need to be drilled.) The Celebration of Confirmation Team is partnering with The H2O Project (www.theH2Oproject.org) to bring you excellent resources to lead this Challenge! The resources and materials are free and are adaptable to support our own efforts toward clean water/well-drilling initiatives in our Partner Synods. See the H2O Web site. Send checks for funds raised to your synod office, payable to the synod with "H20 Challenge" in the memo line.
Don't Bottle it Up Challenge - Challenge your youth to lead your congregation to rethink and reduce use of bottled water! Initiated by the youth of the New Jersey Synod and passed on to us at the 2009 ELCA Lutheran Youth Organization Convention – take the “Don’t Bottle It Up!” Pledge. See www.mpls-synod.org for more information. (This initiative works hand and hand with the H2O Project above!)
